The teams and individuals are set for the 2023 Missouri State High School Activities Association Boys’ Golf Championships that will be held Monday and Tuesday at sites around the state. CBC and Chaminade claimed their spots after their district championship last week while the other districts took place this past Monday.

The top two teams in each district advance and the next 12 golfers that are not on an advancing team will move on to the state championship tournament which is a 36-hole tournament over two days.

In the other Class 5 district at Forest Hills Country Club, De Smet claimed their second district title in three years as they finished with a score of 313 while Marquette finished second just one stroke behind with a score of 314. Howell finished third in the district with a score of 318 with Priory grabbing the fourth slot with a score of 321. In the individual standings, there was a five-way tie for the top slot as William Blankemeyer and Colby Sauer of De Smet, August Johnson and Carter White of Howell, and Luke McLaughlin of Priory all finished with a four-over-par score of 76. Thomas Shuert of Marquette finished sixth with a five-over-par round of 77 with his teammate Connor Hopwood earning the seventh slot with a six-over-par score of 78.

The Spartans and Mustangs will join CBC and Chaminade at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club in Boliver, Mo. for the Class 5 state championship.

In Class 4 district action at Crown Point Golf Club in Farmington, Parkway West earned the top spot in the district with a score of 313 with Summit claiming the runners-up spot with a score of 317. North County placed third in the event with a score of 318 while Farmington and Washington tied for fourth with scores of 335. William Dugal of North County shot a one-over-par round of 73 to claim medalist honors with Palmer Cerko leading the Longhorns as he tied Rugar Govero of North County for second with a three-over-par score of 75. Savyasaachi Kandula of Parkway West finished fourth with a round of 76 with Jacob Schreiner of Summit earning fifth place with a five-over-par score of 77.

The other local Class 4 district took place at the Golf Club of Wentzville with Ladue garnering the team honors with a score of 305 while Fort Zumwalt South earned second place with a score of 308. Parkway Central grabbed the third slot with a score of 311 and Fort Zumwalt East placed fourth with a score of 316. Trey Rusthoven of Fort Zumwalt East claimed medalist honors with an outstanding six-under-par round of 65. Ben Gelven of MICDS and Shivom Koraonkar of Parkway North tied for third with rounds of one-under-par 70. Alexander Bresler of Fort Zumwalt South rounded out the top five with a one-over-par round of 72.

The Class 4 schools and individuals will head to the Sedalia Country Club in Sedalia, Mo.

In the Class 3 tournament play at the Ste. Genevieve Golf Course, Andrew Richter of St. Mary’s advanced to the state tournament with a round of 89 to finish in 17th place while Jackson Goodwin of Herculaneum placed 18th with a round of 90 to move on to action next week.

In the other Class 3 district at Eagle Knoll Golf Course in Hartsburg, Mo., St. Charles West earned the fourth spot in the team chase with a score of 330 but will see a pair of the players advance as Ian Hollander tied for third with a four-over-par score of 76 with teammate Justin Shy shooting a five-over-par round of 77 to earn a tie for fifth. Spencer Hobson of Orchard Farm will also advance to the state championship as he placed 12th with a round of 82 while Whitfield’s Bryce Schultz placed 13th with a score of 83.

The Class 3 state tournament will be held at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield, Mo.

St. Pius X out of Festus earned their first trip back to the state championship since 2018 as the Lancers finished second at the Class 2 district held at Terre Du Lac Golf & Country Club in Bonne Terre, Mo. The Lancers had a score of 376 and finished behind Liberty (Mountain View) who finished with a score of 358. William Becker paced the St. Pius X efforts as he finished in a tie for third with a round of 85. Chase Waterkotte also placed in the top 10 as he finished in a tie for eighth with a round of 90. Joining the Lancers at state will be Kaleb Weiler of Jefferson R7 who placed 13th with a round of 95.

In the other Class 2 district at Norwoods Golf Club in Hannibal, Mo., Lutheran St. Charles claimed the team title with a score of 339. Sam Malterer paced the Cougars as he finished in a tie for fifth place with a score of 82 while Richard Calleros and Owen Tormala tied for seventh place with scores of 85. Michael Huesgen also placed in the top 10 for Lutheran St. Charles as he finished in a tie for ninth with a round of 87.

The Class 2 state championships will be held at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield, Mo.
