The Missouri Athletic Club held their 39th annual Soccer All-Star game this past Friday night at the World Wide Technology Soccer Park with the South squads grabbing wins in both the girls’ and boys’ contests. The game featured many of the top prep soccer players in the St. Louis area and the players did not disappoint as they played in their final high school contest.

In the girls’ match, the South team broke open a tight match after the first 40 minutes as they scored five second-half goals to claim a 7-2 victory over the North.

Isabel Montileone of Ft. Zumwalt South opened the scoring for the North as she converted a rebound in the 2nd minute into a goal from 35 yards out to give the North a 1-0 lead. Kylie Anderson of Oakville evened the match in the 7th minute as she found the upper right corner of the goal to make the score 1-1. Lindbergh’s Courtney Conlon gave the South squad the lead in the 29th minute as she ripped a shot from the top of the 18-yard box into the right side of the goal to stake the South to a 2-1 lead. That is how the first half would end.

The South picked up where they left off in the 54th minute as Natalie Druger of Ursuline slotted a shot from nine yards out into the lower right side of the goal to give the South a 3-1 advantage. The North cut the lead to 3-2 in the 61st minute as Megan Molner of Incarnate Word scored off a rebound from two yards out to get the North to within a goal. The final 12 minutes of the match were controlled by the South as Cor Jesu’s Kate Vertal slotted a goal from 15 yards out into the lower left corner of the goal to give the South a 4-2 advantage. Druger extended the lead with her second goal of the night as she found the upper left corner of the goal in the 74th minute to push the score to 5-2. Ana DiMaria of Cor Jesu added to the goal count in the 78th minute with a blast from 15 yards out to make the score 6-2. Maddie Bowman of St. Joseph’s Academy ended the game with a shot from 7 yards out into the upper left corner of the goal as time ran out to give the South the 7-2 victory.
