The 2023 Missouri State High School Activities Association Girls’ Swimming and Diving Championships will begin Thursday afternoon at the St. Peters Rec Plex with Parkway West and Parkway South looking to defend their state titles from a year ago.

The Class 2 meet will begin Thursday at noon with the preliminary heats while the Class 2 diving championship will take place Thursday evening starting at 4:30 p.m. The Class 2 final races will begin Friday morning at 10 a.m.

The Class 1 meet will then start Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. with the diving championship taking place Saturday morning at 9 a.m. The Class 1 final heats will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Parkway South will lead a big group of local contenders as the Patriots will look to defend their title from last year. Parkway South scored 245 points in last year’s state meet to claim the title and was able to hold off three other local squads as Cor Jesu, Kirkwood, and MICDS all finished in the top 5 with the Patriots.

The Patriots will once again be led by senior Kylee Sullivan who won four first place medals in last year’s state meet and she enters this week’s finals with the best times in the state in the 100-yard Fly with a time of 54.76 and in the 200-yard IM with a mark of 2:02.07. Sullivan is also a part of the Parkway South 200-yard Medley Relay that has the top time in the state with a mark of 1:45.12.

The Longhorns scored 220.50 points to secure the title last year and will look to win their 15th state championship. Clayton and Webster Groves rounded out the top five from last year’s meet by placing third and fifth respectfully.

Campbell Murawski had an outstanding state meet last year with a pair of second place finishes and will head into the state meet with top times in two of her individual events.
