THE REDBIRD REVIEW The Cardinals did it again, doing enough things poorly to give the Brewers a 6-4 win on Thursday in Milwaukee. And we know what that means: another failure by the Redbirds to put their opponent away when having the opportunity to sweep a three-game...
The question of the day: Does anybody want to win the NL Central? The Brewers and Cardinals have it ridiculously easy because the competition in the NL Central is a joke. The Pirates, Cubs and Reds have combined for a .375 winning percentage this season, leaving the...
THE REDBIRD REVIEW Great win by the Cardinals on Monday night. I don’t care that they got it done against a 24-35 Pirates team that entered the series with a six-game losing streak. You’re not supposed to come up with a 7-5 victory after trailing 5-0 after 5 and ½...
THE REDBIRD REVIEW Over the weekend The Cardinals won a series and moved into first place. That’s good. The Cards also botched a chance to sweep the Reds in a loss that enabled Milwaukee to pick up a game in the NL Central standings. That’s disappointing. The...

THE REDBIRD REVIEW The Cardinals had a very good week, winning six of eight games from the Padres and Cubs. Going into Memorial Day, the Cardinals trailed first-place Milwaukee by 3.5 games. By the time they departed Wrigley Field late Sunday night, the Cardinals had...

THE REDBIRD REVIEW After Tuesday’s 8-1 loss to Toronto and another careening, agonizingly tedious start by Jordan Hicks, the Cardinals manager Oli Marmol sounded like a man who had just about seen enough of the pitcher’s wildness, walks, low percentage of strikes...
Before the 2021 season the Cardinals were thin on starting pitching. Multiple rotation pieces were vulnerable to injury, and the shortened 2020 season added additional risk to pitcher health. The lack of depth was obvious, but a confident front office had no concerns....
