The holiday tournaments have come to an end, and we have a new team in the top slot of this week’s High School Sports Caravan Boys’ Basketball Top 10 rankings as Belleville East moves into the No. 1 slot after their third-place finish in the Collinsville Tournament. There was plenty of movement in the rankings after the holiday season.

 

  1. Belleville East (13-1)
    • The Lancers came away from the Collinsville tourney with third place after losing to MacArthur in the semifinals and opened play this week against O’Fallon Tuesday.
  2. East St. Louis (8-1)
    • The Flyers are on a three-game winning streak and will take on Edwardsville Tuesday night in SWC action.
  3. Chaminade (4-1)
    • The Red Devils return to action after the holiday break with a contest against Althoff Tuesday evening.
  4. Vashon (6-5)
    • The Wolverines have won four out of their last five games and will take on Moline in the Highland Shootout Saturday night.
  5. CBC (9-5)
    • The Cadet saw its four-game winning streak end in the final of the Mater Dei tournament in a loss to Briarcrest Christian and will take on De Smet Friday evening in MCC action.
  6. Collinsville (11-5)
    • The Kahoks have won four of their last five games and will host Cahokia Tuesday evening to start play this week.
  7. Cardinal Ritter (10-3)
    • The Lions are currently on a nine-game winning streak including four wins at the Centralia tournament last week and will play at Duchesne Friday evening in AAA action.
  8. O’Fallon (11-4)
    • The Panthers bounced back after losing a pair of games at the Collinsville tournament with a win over Collierville, Tenn., and will host Belleville East Tuesday evening in SWC play.
  9. Kirkwood (8-0)
    • The Pioneers won the Don Maurer Holiday Classic at MICDS last week and have started the season undefeated for the first time in many years and will play this week against Lafayette Tuesday night.
  10. De Smet (7-3)
    • The Spartans dropped a pair of games at the Coaches vs Cancer Classic at Maryville University last week and will take on MCC rival CBC Friday evening.
