The streak continues as Incarnate Word picks up where it left off last season as the Red Knights will start the High School Sports Caravan girls’ basketball Top 10 rankings in the top slot to begin the season. There are some of the same teams in the first ranking that finished in last year’s list while there are some new names that dot the rankings.

 

  1. Incarnate Word (5-0)
    • The Red Knights ran its current winning streak to 73 games after taking three games in Hawaii over the weekend. IWA earned the top seed at the Visitation Tournament and will start play against Webster Groves this Saturday.
  2. John Burroughs (7-1)
    • The Bombers won a pair of games last week after falling to Helias last weekend and will start the Viz Tournament as the No. 2 seed. They open play in the tournament Saturday against Nerinx Hall.
  3. O’Fallon (8-2)
    • The Panthers are one of the top teams on the Illinois side and defeated Eureka over the weekend. They open play this week against Tuesday night at Waterloo.
  4. Eureka (4-3)
    • The Wildcats have played a tough schedule to start the season and will start play in the Viz Tourney as the No.3 seed. They will take on Notre Dame Tuesday before action at Viz starts Saturday against Parkway West.
  5. Pattonville (3-0)
    • The Pirates have a veteran group returning from last season as they will start the Viz Tournament as the No. 4 seed and will start tourney play Saturday against Westminster.
  6. Civic Memorial (8-2)
    • The Eagles are on a seven-game winning streak and are the No. 5 seed at the Viz Tournament. They will take on Waterloo Thursday before playing Edwardsville in an opening-round game at Viz.
  7. Alton (8-1)
    • The Red Birds fell to Civic Memorial this past Saturday and will take on Belleville East Thursday evening.
  8. Parkway South (5-0)
    • The Patriots won the Parkway season-opening round robin and will take on Clayton and Oakville before starting play at Viz Saturday against Whitfield.
  9. Highland (10-2)
    • The Bulldogs have won four out of their last five games and will travel to Triad Thursday to play their backyard rivals.
  10. Cor Jesu (3-0)
    • The Chargers will look to continue their winning ways with a match-up against Webster Groves Tuesday night before playing Cardinal Ritter in a first-round game at Viz Saturday.
