As we turn the calendar to February, the area’s high school basketball teams are playing for conference titles and district seeds. With that being said, the HSSC/Scoops with Danny Mac Top 10 Poll will continue to be very interesting.

On the boy’s side, Vashon will remain as the top team in the area after defeating Chicago St. Rita this past weekend. Incarnate Word stays in the number one spot on the girl’s list as they have run their winning streak to 55 games with a pair of victories last week.

Here are the Top 10 lists:

BOY’S TOP 10 

  1. Vashon (16-2)
    • The top team in Class Four beat St. Rita 49-42 Saturday evening and will have a PHL contest against Gateway Saturday.
  2. Chaminade (11-4)
    • The Red Devils have a pair of games this week against Confluence Prep Tuesday night and then they will travel to the O’Fallon (Ill.) Shootout to take on Mascoutah.
  3. DeSmet (11-5)
    • The Spartans claimed the title at the Circle 7 Shootout with a win over Parkway West and will have a huge Metro Catholic Conference match-up with CBC Wednesday evening.
  4. Westminster Christian Academy (18-1)
    • The Wildcats outscored CBC 40-23 over the final three quarters to defeat the Cadets 45-43 Tuesday evening.
  5. CBC (13-6)
    • The Cadets saw their five-game winning streak come to an end Tuesday night in the loss to Westminster. CBC has a pair of MCC games this week against DeSmet and SLUH.
  6. East St. Louis (18-5)
    • The Flyers fell to CBC this past weekend and will travel to Collinsville Friday evening.
  7. MICDS (14-3)
    • The Rams won the title at the Fort Zumwalt Tournament with a 54-45 victory over Priory and will start a three-game week with a match-up against Lutheran South Tuesday evening.
  8. O’Fallon (21-4)
    • The Panthers continued their winning ways with a pair of wins over Edwardsville and Granite City last week and will take on Springfield (Ill.) Lampier Friday night.
  9. Cardinal Ritter (12-8)
    • The Lions knocked off Chicago Curie this past weekend and will travel to Harrisburg to take on Blair Oaks Saturday afternoon.
  10. Parkway West (16-2)
    • The Longhorns fell to DeSmet in the title game of the Circle 7 Shootout and will take on    Parkway Central Friday night.

GIRL’S TOP 10

  1. Incarnate Word (15-0)
    • The Red Knights defeated Westminster and St. Joe’s last week and will try to continue the streak with a contest against STEM Academy Tuesday night.
  2. Webster Groves (14-3)
    • The Statesmen won both of their games last week and will start play in the Webster Winter Challenge with a match-up against Hazelwood Central Tuesday night.
  3. Edwardsville (21-4)
    • The Tigers won three games last week and will take on Collinsville Tuesday evening.
  4. Whitfield (12-3)
    • The Warriors took home the title at the Queen of Hearts Tournament with a 55-45 win over Eureka and will have a big test against Westminster Friday evening.
  5. Civic Memorial (24-4)
    • The Eagles saw their eight-game winning streak come to an end in a loss to Quincy Notre Dame but, bounced back with a win at Pleasant Plains Monday night.
  6. John Burroughs (10-4)
    • The Bombers defeated Westminster for the first time in years in a 45-34 victory last Friday evening and will take on Lutheran St. Charles Tuesday evening.
  7. Westminster (13-4)
    • The Wildcats dropped a pair of games to IWA and John Burroughs before bouncing back to defeat St. Charles West Saturday afternoon.
  8. St. Charles West (13-3)
    • The Warriors won a pair of GAC games against Howell North and Orchard Farm before falling to Westminster Saturday and will travel to Winfield for another GAC contest Tuesday night.
  9. MICDS (13-5)
    • The Rams took third place in the Lindbergh Tournament and will see a match-up against Carnahan Friday evening.
  10. Cardinal Ritter (14-3)
    • The Lions have won their last nine games and will open play in the Webster Winter Classic with a match-up against St. Joe’s Tuesday evening.
