The 2021-22 high school baseball season finished up this weekend as Edwardsville claimed the Illinois High School Association Class 4A title and will wrap up the first season of the HSSC/Scoops with Danny Mac Top 10 Baseball Rankings in the top slot. There is some movement among the list as Festus moves out of the bottom of the list to the No. 2 slot after finishing their season as the state runner-up in Class 5 in Missouri.

 

  1. Edwardsville (36-4)
    • The Tigers won 12 of their last 13 games en route to claiming the IHSA Class 4A title with a 4-3 win over Mundelein this past weekend.
  1. Festus (27-9)
    • The Tigers fell in the MSHSAA Class 5 state title game to Platte County 6-1 after winning 12 straight games, including a 4-3 victory over Willard in the semifinals last weekend.
  1. Howell (32-10)
    • The Vikings fell to Liberty North 4-3 in the MSHSAA Class 6 semifinal before defeating Lindbergh 11-0 to claim the third-place trophy.
  1. Fort Zumwalt East (23-11)
    • The Lions finished fourth in the MSHSAA Class 5 tournament after losing to Platte County and Willard at the state final four.
  1. Columbia (27-8-1)
    • The Eagles finished third in the IHSA Class 2A by defeating Maroa – Forsyth 4-1 after losing to Joliet Catholic in the state semifinals by the same score.
  1. Valley Park (19-6)
    • The Hawks wrapped up the season with a fourth-place finish in the MSHSAA Class 3 tournament after losing to Springfield Catholic and Lawson in the state final four.
  1. Triad (33-6)
    • The Knights ended their season with a 3-0 loss to Chatham Glenwood in the IHSA Class 3A sectional final.
  1. Belleville East (27-9)
    • The Lancers fell to Edwardsville in the IHSA Class 4A sectional semifinal 10-0 to end their season.
  1. John Burroughs (26-4)
    • Season Complete
  1. O’Fallon (25-8)
    • Season Complete
