As we head into the final week of the high school baseball season, Edwardsville remains on top of the HSSC/Scoops with Danny Mac Baseball Top 10 rankings. The Tigers are one of four teams in this week’s rankings that are still alive in the IHSA state playoffs. Festus join the rankings as after they won their MSHSAA quarterfinal this past Saturday.

 

  1. Edwardsville (31-4)
    • The Tigers defeated Quincy this past Saturday to advance to the IHSA Class 4 sectional semifinal Wednesday against SWC rival Belleville East.
  1. Triad (31-5)
    • The Knights beat Waterloo 8-1 to move on to the IHSA Class 3 sectional semifinal against Mount Vernon Wednesday afternoon.
  1. Belleville East (27-8)
    • The Lancers held off Belleville West to advance to the IHSA Class 4 sectional semifinal against Edwardsville Wednesday evening.
  1. Howell (31-9)
    • The Vikings defeated Howell Central 3-1 Saturday to advance to the MSHSAA Class 6 semifinals against Liberty North Friday afternoon.
  1. Fort Zumwalt East (23-9)
    • The Lions defeated Parkway Central 7-4 Saturday to move on to the MSHSAA Class 5 semifinals for the first time in school history as they will take on Platte County Friday evening.
  1. Valley Park (19-4)
    • The won a pair of games last week, including a 6-5 victory over East Prairie in eight innings to move on to the MSHSAA Class 3 semifinal against Springfield Catholic Wednesday afternoon.
  1. John Burroughs (26-4)
    • The Bombers season came to an end in the Class 4 quarterfinals as they fell to Southern Boone 3-1.
  1. O’Fallon (25-8)
    • The Panthers lost to Belleville West 5-4 in the IHSA Class 4 playoffs to end their season.
  1. Columbia (26-7-1)
    • The Eagles enter the rankings by winning 11 of their last 12 games, including a 15-8 victory over Freeburg in the IHSA Class 2 Super Sectionals and will play Joliet Catholic Academy in the state semifinals Friday evening.
  1. Festus (26-8)
    • The Tigers enter the ranking on an 11 game winning streak which includes a 12-2 win over Lutheran South in the Class 5 quarterfinals and will play Willard in the semifinals Friday afternoon.
