The start of the 2022 volleyball season has seen some outstanding play by many teams and individuals. We start our HSSC/Scoops with Danny Mac Top 10 rankings with Lafayette sitting in the top slot after an outstanding 8-2 beginning to the season. Their backyard rival, Eureka, enters the opening rankings of the year in the second slot while Illinois powerhouse Edwardsville joins the list as the number three team.

Here is the first Top 10 list of the season. Just a reminder, we have combined all schools into one list for the fall.

 

  1. Lafayette (8-2)
    • The Lancers start off in the top spot after traveling to the western side of the state to take part in the St. Teresa’s tournament and will battle Eureka Wednesday evening.
  2. Eureka (6-1)
    • The Wildcats earned a split in Springfield this past weekend and will take on district rival Lafayette Wednesday evening.
  3. Edwardsville (11-2)
    • The Tigers won four of five matches this past weekend in Effingham and will take on Alton tonight.
  4. O’Fallon (8-2)
    • The Panthers will look to bounce after falling to Althoff last week with a match against East St. Louis tonight.
  5. St. Pius X (8-0)
    • The Lancers won three matches last week to remain perfect on the year and will take on Nerinx Hall to open play this week.
  6. Mater Dei (11-3)
    • The Knights won three matches in the Effingham tourney this past weekend and will host Staunton Wednesday evening.
  7. Nerinx Hall (8-1)
    • The Markers won a pair of matches last week and will take on St. Pius X to start their week off.
  8. Ursuline (4-1)
    • The Bears are coming off a victory over Westminster last week and will take on Seckman Saturday in their match of the week.
  9. Westminster (11-2)
    • The Wildcats won a pair of matches in the Borgia Tourney and will begin to play this week with a game against Lindbergh tonight.
  10. Howell Central (7-1-1)
    • The Spartans played in the Borgia Tourney this past weekend and will take on Howell North tonight.
