Top 10 Basketball Poll

We are mid-way through the season, but that will not stop us from starting our own Prep Hoops Top 10 list for teams in the area. There is a lot of great basketball happening around the area, so this list was not easy to start, and I guarantee that there will be many changes to it over the next seven weeks. On the boy’s side, Vashon will start as the top team in the area after earning a split this weekend at the Border Classic in Pittsburg, Kan. The Wolverines have dropped only two games on the year and that has been to teams from outside the state of Missouri. Incarnate Word takes the top spot on the girl’s list as the Red Knights continue their impressive start to the year. IWA won a pair of games this past weekend to improve their winning streak to 53 games. Here are the Top 10 lists:
BOY’S TOP 10

- Vashon (15-2)
- The top team in Class Four fell to Blue Valley Northwest before defeating Webster Groves at the Border Classic.
- Chaminade (10-4)
- The Red Devils continue to lead the Metro Catholic Conference after defeating Vianney last week.
- CBC (11-5)
- The Cadets ripped off three wins last week after falling to Chaminade on the road.
- DeSmet (11-5)
- The Spartans have won three of their last four games, including a 72-49 victory over Parkway South in the opening round of the Circle 7 Shootout.
- Webster Groves (12-5)
- The Statesmen will look to rebound after dropping a pair of games at the Border Classic with a contest against SLUH tonight.
- East St. Louis (17-4)
- The Flyers are on a four-game winning streak and will wrap up the week will a game against CBC Saturday afternoon.
- Westminster Christian Academy (16-1)
- The Wildcats have won their last eight games and will look to extend that streak against John Burroughs Friday evening.
- MICDS (12-3)
- The Rams have won three of their last four games and look to continue their winning ways in the semifinals of the Ft. Zumwalt North Tourney against St. Mary’s later this week.
- O’Fallon (19-4)
- The Panthers have claimed wins in four of their last five games and will have a huge test Friday evening at Edwardsville.
- Cardinal Ritter (11-8)
- The Lions have played one of the toughest schedules in the state and will take on Chicago Simeon Saturday evening.

- The streak is now at 53 straight wins as the Red Knights won a pair of games in Illinois this past weekend.
- Westminster (12-2)
- The Wildcats have a big week coming up as they will play IWA, John Burroughs, and St. Charles West.
- Webster Groves (12-3)
- The Statesmen are coming off a nice trip to southwest Missouri as WG earned third place in the Nixa Invite.
- Edwardsville (18-4)
- The Tigers have won their last eight games after dropping a pair of contests in the Visitation Tourney.
- Whitfield (8-3)
- The Warriors open play in the Queen of Hearts Tournament at Villa Duchesne with a game against Christian Wednesday night.
- St. Charles West (11-2)
- The Warriors have a big GAC conference match-up against Orchard Farm Thursday before taking on Westminster Saturday afternoon.
- Howell Central (12-4)
- The Spartans continue GAC play this week with a contest against Timberland Tuesday evening.
- Civic Memorial (22-3)
- The Eagles have won their last seven games and have a big contest against Triad Thursday evening.
- John Burroughs (9-4)
- The Bombers are on a three-game winning streak leading into a big district contest against Westminster Friday evening.
- MICDS (11-4)
- The Rams won their opening-round game in the Lindbergh Tournament and will play Jackson in the semifinals Wednesday evening.
- Incarnate Word (13-0)
